Hi Jenny,

My husband and I just wanted to send you a quick thank you. We had our baby boy on June 14th, at 4:10pm. I had a vaginal birth and did extremely well, birthing came very easy for me and was about 13 hours total and I pushed for about 30 mins. I had a wonderful experience, my husband said I was very focused and determined. He said I did not scream, yell or cry not one time! I progressed very well and I did not want an epidural but I did go into preclampsia so they told me I needed it with the medicine they put me on for it. I did not get the epidural until 8cm so I did pretty good. We used all the techniques you taught us and the breathing techniques were what got me through, plus my relaxing music that I brought in. The nurses said they were all very impressed with the way I handled the whole labor and delivery. Our son came out very very healthy and strong. I am now a proud mommy and we are one happy family! We did a lot to prepare and all thanks to you, thanks Jenny! We will send photos soon.

P.s. I had one of those rare “movie-like moments” water broke at 3am while I was sleeping it was just one huge gush, we had to get up and go! My husband and I were totally caught off guard but everything ended up going pretty smoothly.

“Jenny, it was great to took your class because my husband got idea how to support me as a partner from your class. I am not sure you know this but Japanese men usually are not involved in childbirth things, postpartum help much. I believe he was inspired from your class. Thanks again. I hope other class mates are doing well as me.”

“Hi Jenny, you are legendary :9)Thank you so much. Due date is march 9th. However, I have a feeling that the baby might be early since the contractions have been fairly strong in the last couple of days… Best, thanks so much again!”

“Jenny,

We just wanted to say “Thanks” again for the class we enjoyed with you (Baby Bedtime Basics) 2 weeks ago. Romy & I were the couple who are “expecting” on Sept. 11, we had one of the larger baby dolls that night, and sat directly across from you in front of the windows. I’m sure you see hundreds of folks, so I wouldn’t expect you’d remember many.

I really enjoyed your style, from being very low key, to even playing relaxing music throughout the evening. I walked away thinking, “Now there’s someone who KNOWS her stuff!”.

I have already gone online and bought the Baby 411 book, the (”Shhh”) DVD that we watched with you, and 2 more “noise” CD’s (one that was connected with the DVD). I’m excited, and actaully think now we have a great shot at not having to be bleary-eyed, sleep depraved zombies for the first few months. Before I went online and read a lot of others recommendations, I thought it might just be luck of the draw as far as who gets the “happy baby”, that doesn’t cry all the time and keep the parents from EVER getting some rest. But now, I felt confident that we have some tools that ACTUALLY work.

I also thought and mentioned to Romy, “Man it would be great if we could have Jenny as a Doula!! ” After all I saw of you that night, you seem like the type of person (personality-style especially) that we would benefit from. I know you said you will only be doing several of these a year, but I am curious if our situation would be one that would interest you ? We both tend to be pretty easy going people, and very easy to deal with. We both feel fortunate that we had parents that stressed “manners”, and the importance of treating people right. We see so many folks out here that maybe didn’t get the chance to
learn how to be “nice” and polite, and to treat EVERYONE with a lot of respect. (Kind of scary bringing a child up in the environment we see out here, after both of us coming from the Midwest, then Colorado, Texas, and then on out here.)

All that to say, I have a feeling we might be in for a bumpy ride. It is going to be extremely rough on me (though I’m not confused at all here on WHO is really having the tough time!), watching her in Sooooo much pain, and not really being able to do much for her. She didn’t want to do Lamaze classes, and our “coaching” exercises were limited to what they taught us in the day-long Baby Basics class (versus the same class that lasts 6 weeks, one night a week). So I’m getting a bit concerned about not feeling like I have many tools to make me a great “coach”, and that is why I am thinking a “third” person/doula makes good sense !”

“I did end up helping this couple with their birth and they have a beautiful son, they are all featured on my site.”
